  • A friendly familiar face is now back at the Chamber. Kathy Swain returned to the staff at the North Platte Chamber and Development Corporation on April 28. She assumes the Chamber Vice-Presidency role that John Hales has held for the past five years. John retired on April 25.

    Kathy has 18 years of experience with our organization, plus 11 previous years with the City of North Platte. She was also instrumental on the staff in helping with the successful merger of the Chamber of Commerce and the Development Corporation (DEVCO) 11 years ago.

    Kathy and her partner Roger had moved to Lincoln a year ago, but had recently expressed interest in returning to North Platte if the right opportunity presented itself.

    "I really look forward to having Kathy back on staff with her experience and knowledge of North Platte and Lincoln County and the close connection she has enjoyed with our business community," Person said.

    "Besides being very efficient and committed to the job, Kathy has that type of Chamber personality and attitude where 'every day is a great day, and tomorrow is going to be even better'. She is passionate about North Platte and brings a lot of positive energy to the team.

    "To me she has been preparing for this position for the past 18 years and I have 100 percent confidence in her abilities. She knows the responsibilities well," Person said.

    Swain said, "I look forward to working with our members and the community in an effort to continue to grow and make North Platte a great place to live, work and play. Working together we can continue to make good things happen in North Platte. I feel very fortunate to be a part of that effort."
