Agriculture Scholarships Announced!

Shane Weaver, Chair of the North Platte Area Chamber of Commerce & Development Corporation’s Agri-Business Committee announces that this year two $1000 scholarships will be awarded at the Committee’s Annual Farmer/Rancher Appreciation Banquet that will be held on November 6, 2023 at the Sandhills Convention Center at the Ramada in North Platte.

Eligibility requirements are as follows:  

1. The senior must be going on to college in a program related to agriculture (veterinarian medicine does apply).
2. The student must live in or go to school in Lincoln, Logan or McPherson Counties.
3. Student applicants are encouraged, but not mandated, to attend an institution of higher learning in the state of Nebraska.
4. Along with the enclosed application, the student must include a resume, their most current transcript, a letter of recommendation from either a school counselor or other school official, and a one-page essay stating what degree program they are planning on pursuing as well as their future goals.

The Committee feels strongly that agriculture is a vital part of our “quality of life” and hopes that these scholarships will encourage our young people to consider making their living not only in agriculture, but here in Nebraska as well.  Applications are available and can be dropped off when completed at the Chamber & Development office, 502 South Dewey, 308-532-4966.  Scholarship application deadline date is October 16, 2023.
