    Nebraska among lowest in energy costs

    Nebraska recently ranked #42 in a study examining total energy costs by state, making it one of the lowest overall energy cost states in the country and the lowest in the Midwest. On average, the total energy cost is $253 a month.
     
    The state with the highest energy costs was Connecticut at $372, and Washington, D.C., came in lowest with $199. The data includes average monthly electricity, natural-gas, motor-fuel and home heating-oil cost.
