Position Summary
Individual will fill an intricate role in community development where quality of life initiatives are utilized as strategies to retain and attract residents and business to the North Platte and Lincoln County area. Leadership is a key trait while managing the day to day duties to foster small business development as well as market to and attract Corporate America. Individual will perform difficult professional work and attract business through direct outreach and recruitment. Related work as apparent or assigned by the North Platte Area Chamber and Development Corporation board of directors.
Qualification Requirements:
Essential Functions
- Advisor to the Board of Directors and duties regarding Constitution and By-laws of Company
- Supervise general accounting operations and collection of membership accounts
- Ensure upkeep and general appearance of offices of the Company
- Supervise the Company to meet organizational goals; Supervise staff: employ, evaluate, develop
- Develop and implement strategic plans. Ability to Lead and Manage others.
- Develop and execute programs for economic development of North Platte and Lincoln County and trade area. Retention and Expansion of existing industries, recruitment, and encouragement of start-up businesses.
- Communicate innovative plans for membership expansion/retention, including program of structured member visitations
- Maintain a comprehensive public relations program including membership communication and local and statewide media sources
- Establish the Company as a knowledgeable and credible resource for business/community information
- Develop a working relationship with mayors, councils, commissioners, state leaders, and business development agencies and educational institutions.
- Represent Company at significant social functions
- Basic computer skills: Microsoft excel, word, outlook, accounting software
- Excellent communication skills including but not limited to utilizing office equipment and applicable software packages
- Maintain a strong community presence. Ability to work with a variety of personalities
- Ability to be and maintain professionalism at all times.
- Problem solving skills. Ability to be creative.
- Ability to organize and manage schedules. Time management/multi-tasking skills
- Ability to remain calm & act appropriately in emergency/stressful situations
- Thorough knowledge of economic development principles; general knowledge of urban and land
development concepts; ability to interpret and explain codes and regulations
- Ability to prepare statistical and financial reports; ability to effectively coordinate and manage various projects. Understanding of budgeting and cash management
Education and Experience
- Education in Economics, Workforce, or Community Development. B.S. Degree in Business Administration or comparable field or equivalent years experience in a Chamber setting
- Experience in leadership and management roles
Special Requirements
CEcD Certification preferred
Valid driver's license
